getting-started: first-run onboarding

Setup Cowork-ready

getting-started is your onboarding host. On a fresh workspace it walks you through the small set of inputs that research can never find on its own: your exact offer and price, your guarantee, any real case-study numbers you want used, approved customer quotes, and a few voice samples so the copy sounds like you and not generic AI.

Once it has those, it hands your website URL to the brand-context skill, which researches and populates the rest of your brand intelligence files automatically. Personas, competitor angles, objections, hooks: all filled in and ready for every other skill to read.

  • Fresh install: your brand files are empty or still show [FILL IN] placeholders.
  • New client or property: you want to add a second brand to your workspace.
  • Reset: you want to re-run setup for a brand you’ve already onboarded (to update your offer, add new testimonials, or refresh the research).

It also runs automatically: if you ask for an asset on a workspace with no brand data, getting-started runs first and onboards you before building anything.

Cowork ✓ Desktop ✓

getting-started works in both environments. It’s a pure conversation skill, no shell access required, so Cowork and Desktop behave identically.

Just say you want to get set up:

“Get me set up”

“I’m just getting started”

Or it triggers automatically the first time you ask for an asset on a fresh workspace. You don’t need to remember to run it.

It asks one thing at a time, so you’re never staring at a wall of questions. The short list:

  • Your website URL (this drives all the automated research)
  • Your offer, price, and main CTA (book a call, buy now, start a trial)
  • Your guarantee, if you have one
  • A real result you can use, such as “cut CPA from $61 to $42 in six weeks” (if you have one; skipping is fine and leaves the field blank rather than invented)
  • Any approved customer quotes you want in your copy
  • Three to five voice samples: tweets, emails, or a sales-page paragraph you’ve actually written

Everything is skippable. A skipped input stays blank and flagged so you can fill it in later. The skill never invents an offer, a stat, or a testimonial to fill a gap.

For a detailed explanation of what each input does and where it goes, see Onboard your brand.

A fully wired brand setup: offer details, verified proof, your voice captured from real samples, and a complete set of research files covering your buyers, competitors, objections, and angles. Every skill that builds assets reads those files, so from this point forward the work is grounded in your actual brand instead of AI guesswork.

  • brand-context: getting-started hands off to this skill to run the automated research portion of onboarding.
  • onboard-client: use this if you’re adding an additional brand or client property after your first setup is already complete.
